In Death and the Mogul, Brace Heller—the Shorts & Sandals Detective—gets an unpleasant surprise when movie producer Shale Monroe shows up at the office. Monroe wants to tag along with Heller for a few days, to get a feel for the life of a real detective. Under legal obligation to give Monroe unfettered access, Heller and the film producer find themselves embroiled in a dubious cheating spouse case, a domestic abuse investigation for Heller’s pal Puño, and the grief of a life-changing loss.
